Sunday drive

It's an absolutely perfect fall day here on Whidbey. The clear blue sky and cool breeze was just screaming at me to go on a drive with a camera and capture the beauty that's out there. So I headed out with my point and shoot digital and quickly realized that if I'm going to live somewhere that has this much beauty, I'm really going to need a better camera. I have never been much of a photographer. It's not that I don't appreciate the art. I am incredibly jealous of my many friends who do this kind of thing for a living. I'm just not artistically minded, and even worse, I don't do albums or scrapbook, so taking photos that just get dumped into iPhoto on my computer make me feel guilty. But now I have a BLOG! And I can post pretty pictures here with no guilt whatsoever! And just like that, BAM! I'm an aspiring photographer and an SLR is officially on my wish list. Dan says we can hopefully use our tax money early next year to invest in one. In the meantime, everyone will just have to put up with the crummy quality photos I post here. I figure crummy photos of Whidbey Island are still pretty darn nice.

Do I have time for this???

Honestly, probably not. I have been on the fence about starting a blog for a while now because I'm not sure I need one more thing to do on this computer (and I'm sure Dan would agree). My hope is that blogging will be a better use of my computer time, and will take away from some less fruitful areas. I'm wanting to share about our new life in the Pacific Northwest, our family, our homeschooling, and our faith. So, I'm willing to give it a go. I have no idea how to do this. I guess I'll start reading others' blogs for examples. Bear with me as I fumble through this if you've chosen to follow along . . .
